The GML is an association of federal dairy marketing organisations. These local marketing boards are the round tables in the regions and take care of generic marketing campaigns for milk & milk products, school milk, cheese and butter as well as for analytical monitoring and training programmes. They are also a source of information for consumers and opinion leaders being and health professionals being interested in milk and serving as an consultancy for the dairy sector in the region. The overall body for all these federal boards is the GML which also is a member of the German National Committee – VDM.
The VDM is the IDF National Committee of IDF and thus is serving as a contact point in Germany. The round table of all federal governmental departments and organisations acting in the dairy sector in Germany is the guarantee that Germany is well represented at international level. This balance of local ministries and member organisations is the basis for the national government to back up with the dairy sector to get scientifically based statements when it comes to international negotiations.
